The theme for the final Scratch-Off Competition will be “Winter”. Projects can range from activities to holidays and celebrations in the winter season. It might tell a story, or explain or demonstrate something - the only limit is your imagination!Location: Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, University Center BallroomEvent Time: 5:30pm - 7:30pm- Finalists Check In Time: 5:30pm- Finalists Competition Time: 5:40pm - 6:40pm- Judging Time: 6:50pm - 7:10pm- Awards Ceremony: 7:10pm
About Winter: Winter is the coldest season of the year, between autumn and spring. It has the shortest days and longest nights. Winter Is Different in Different Places. Winter can be cold. Winter can be wet. Winter can be warm. Some winter activities involve the use of snow in some form: bobsledding, skiing, sledding, snow man building, snowball fight, snowboarding, ice diving, ice fishing, ice hockey and lots more. All projects must be “created from Scratch” using the Scratch software.

Entries must be original works created by one individual student.

The finalists will be provided with a laptop computer with the Scratch program loaded.

Finalists are encouraged to prepare and get ready for the Scratch-Off Competition ahead of time.

Finalists will not be able to receive assistance during the "Animator Scratch-Off."

Finalists will be provided with a set of headphones and microphones for use.

Finalists will not be allowed to bring or load any prior creations into the computers provided.

However, finalists will be allowed to bring a USB thumb drive with any Sprites, Backgrounds, Music, or sounds they may have created ahead of time. The files will be uploaded by a Texas Techies Competition Facilitator. Upon commencement of the competition all flash drives must be put away for the duration of the competition.

Finalists are welcome to bring their own graphics tablets to aid in drawings. The tablets will be used at the competitors risk and if the tablet fails to work with the equipment provided, Texas Techies will not be allow for a delay in start time.

Texas Techies Organization reserves the right to reject any entry which, in its view, contains inappropriate material.

When you submit an entry you grant Texas Techies Organization permission to make unrestricted use of the entry in future, for publicity or educational purposes. In such use, the Organization will ensure that the author/school is clearly acknowledged.

Submitted entries may be exhibited at the awards ceremony and displayed on the competition webpages, which will also contain entrants' and schools' names (but no further contact details).
There will be one First Place Winner, one Second Place, and one Third Place Winner. All other finalists will also be identified as "commended" for their talent and achievement. All prize-winning and commended entries will be exhibited at the Animator 2009 Award Ceremony and displayed on the web. All entrants will receive a certificate acknowledging their entry to the tournament.
The decisions of the judging panel are final. The competition organizers shall not be liable for any decision that they make related to unforeseen issues and for granting special derogation for requests sent in writing.
